Standardized Test Prep

We offer personalized SAT/ACT tutoring, tailoring each lesson with the goal of maximizing the score of each individual student. We do not mean “personalized” as a buzzword the way other tutors do. We use in-house data analysis to develop an optimal timeline for our students based on their individual strengths and weaknesses. We aim for maximal score improvement per hour and do not waste the time of our clients.

Standardized test scores and extracurriculars are table stakes and commoditized at this point in the college admissions process. The only true way to differentiate one’s application in a highly competitive process is through college essays. We help our students to refine their story and extract what is highly unique about their journey. By dominating an in-demand niche within the applicant pool, our students increase their odds significantly.

  • The number of hours depends on the student’s starting score, target score, and areas for improvement. On average, students benefit from 20–30 hours of personalized tutoring, but we can create custom plans based on individual needs.

  • While results vary based on effort and starting level, many of our students see 100–300+ point improvements on the SAT and 3–6 point increases on the ACT.

  • The ACT and SAT are equally accepted by colleges, so the better test depends on the student’s strengths and preferences. We recommend students take a practice test for both to see which aligns better with their skills, then focusing their efforts on preparing for that test to maximize their score.

  • We use a combination of official practice tests, proven test prep study books, and officially released practice questions to address specific problem areas and maximize scores.

  • Yes, we utilize official, full-length practice tests to track progress and identify areas of improvement.

  • We typically work with high school students, but we also offer services for middle schoolers preparing early for standardized tests.

  • For test prep, students can choose to work with a specialized tutor for different sections of the SAT/ACT exam or work with the same tutor for the exam as a whole. Our specialized tutoring option is great for those struggling with only some sections of the SAT/ACT exam or would prefer a specialized tutor for separate sections of the SAT/ACT exam.

    For college essays, students will work with the same tutor. If multiple services are being used, we can assign the same tutor across every service to provide a seamless and consistent experience.

  • All of our college prep services are offered online via Zoom. This allows us to provide elite college prep to students everywhere, regardless of location. We do not offer any of our services in person at this time.

  • All sessions are conducted via Zoom, with screen-sharing and an interactive whiteboard to make lessons engaging and effective.

  • The frequency of each session depends on the student's individual needs and goals. We typically recommend 1-2 sessions a week for test prep and college essays, but we can adjust the schedule based on the circumstances of each student. During your consultation, we'll discuss the ideal frequency for optimal progress.

  • No, there is no minimum commitment required. You can schedule sessions as needed, allowing for flexibility based on the student’s progress and goals.

  • If you’re unsatisfied with the first session, please let us know right away. We are committed to ensuring the best fit for each student, and we will work with you to address any concerns or schedule a follow-up session with a different tutor if needed. Your satisfaction and progress are our top priorities.

  • Session availability depends on several factors, including our tutors’ schedules, time zone differences, and prior commitments with other students. We work with you to find a time that fits your needs and ensure flexibility to accommodate your schedule. Please contact us to discuss specific availability.

  • Absolutely. We offer flexible scheduling and only ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule a session.

  • We require 24 hours’ notice for all cancellations. No-shows or cancelling less than 24 hours before the start of a session will result in full charge of the session.

  • If a student is running late, we will wait up to 30 minutes for each session before considering it a no-show. To help prevent this, we’ll reach out via text or email 5-10 minutes into the session to check if the student has forgotten or is running late. In the case of a no-show, we can reschedule, but please note that our cancellation policy will apply.
